Buffalo 8 Distribution Spotlights Visionary Black Creatives; Committed to Championing Black Independent Film

LOS ANGELES, FEBRUARY 1, 2024 – Buffalo 8 Distribution continues their commitment to black cinema with their Filmmaker Spotlight Series, which highlights the visionary Black creatives they have the privilege of working with, including Adonis Armstrong, Omar Cook, Choice Skinner, Benét Embry, and Hudrell Jones.

At the heart of Buffalo 8 Distribution’s mission is a commitment to championing underrepresented narratives and promoting inclusivity in filmmaking. The company operates with a vision to provide a platform for black filmmakers, ensuring their stories reach a global audience. Recognizing the richness and diversity of black cinema, they focus on celebrating and elevating these voices in the industry.

Their dedication to providing a platform for underrepresented voices in the industry has been evident in their partnerships with remarkable projects, including Blind Eye Artist, Trust Nobody, Older Man Younger Woman, Foster Sin, A New Life, and James Hemings: Ghost in America’s Kitchen, all contributing to Buffalo 8’s reputation as a champion of meaningful storytelling.

In 2023, over 30% of their releases were urban centric titles. Among those titles was ‘A New Life’ Directed by Choice Skinner, who is a recent 2024 NAACP Image Award Nominee for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Motion Picture). Skinner shares, “I strive to tell the redemptive stories. I love making films which are thought provoking but, in the end, helps people and the Black community to heal.” These successful releases not only showcase the incredible talent of black creatives but also underscore Buffalo 8’s mission to bring diverse narratives to the forefront of the entertainment landscape.

“Our commitment to championing underrepresented stories is a testament to our belief in the power of storytelling to shape perceptions and foster inclusivity” says Head of Distribution, Nikki Stier Justice. “Join us in supporting and celebrating the impactful stories of black filmmakers as we continue to strive for a more diverse and vibrant entertainment industry.”
