Et TuReleased: 20250725In a small American town, on an old theater stage, two Shakespearean tragedies unfold. The first - A bloody tale of Julius Caesar, performed by a cast of local actors. While the audience enjoys these familiar thrills, in the blackness of the busy backstage, the second tragedy unfolds - far less familiar than Caesar’s, but no less bloody. The theater’s director, BRENT (Lou Diamond Phillips), lurks in the shadows with a sharpened prop dagger. He’s been plagued by violent visions of infidelity and murder, convinced his wife and production manager, NADINE (Rachel Alig), is having an affair with his idiot leading man, MARCUS (Brennan Keel Cook). While Brent schemes and stews, Marcus’s young understudy, TERRENCE (Antwone Barnes), rehearses his lines in the bowels of the theatre, unaware that his hard work may pay off sooner than he could ever expect. By intermission, both Terrence and Brent capture that which they most desire, but not without first getting some blood on their hands. The parallel tragedies develop in tandem, separated by a stage curtain. Just as Brutus struggles with the unintended consequences of murder, so too does Brent. His show is on life support. His vengeance is turning to madness. And one by one, Brent’s cast and crew are… "leaving the show". The curtain gives way and blood spills onto the stage. The ghost of the old theatre (Malcolm McDowell) whistles in the wing, and our quaint audience begins to wonder…who’s actually directing this play?
